FLINT, Mich. — The Flint Fire Department has reached a major milestone, collecting over $900,000 in ambulance revenue and projecting to surpass $1 million by January 2026.
The department’s ambulance service has proven highly successful, generating nearly three times the projected revenue while also making a meaningful impact on the community, according to a city press release.
The projected revenue, nearly triple the original estimate of $350,000 outlined in the initial plan, will be reinvested into the city. Plans include developing a public safety training facility on the city’s north side, WJRT reported.
“We are working now on a full training facility inside the city of Flint,” Fire Chief Theron Wiggins said.
Wiggins said additional funds will also be put towards adding a third ambulance to the fleet.
