Video: Suspect in ambulance theft arrested after standoff

Fled to his roof through a second-story window when authorities arrived to take him into custody

NORRISTOWN, Pa. — After being caught on tape stealing a Plymouth ambulance, a Pa. man was taken into custody following a six-hour rooftop standoff Thursday.

Carlos Bouie fled to the roof of his home through a second floor window in order to evade authorities seeking his arrest, according to the Montgomery News.

“He placed himself in such a position that it was very dangerous for police officers to make any attempt to go up and get him,” Norristown Chief Russell Bono said. “I was very concerned about sending officers on that roof.”

Eventually authorities did venture onto the roof in order to negotiate a peaceful surrender with Bouie, who is known to police and has a criminal record.

Bouie finally relented and came down from the roof when his sister arrived with a sandwich and doughnut for him to eat.
