NORRISTOWN, Pa. — A man was caught on tape stealing an ambulance while EMTs were responding to a call in Pa. Wednesday.
A Plymouth Ambulance crew arrived on scene to a woman having a seizure and was preparing to transport her when a man swiped their $140,000 ambulance, according to WPVI.
The suspect turned on the emergency lights and sped through traffic, passing vehicles and running red lights in surveillance footage.
Another ambulance arrived to take the patient to the hospital, and authorities found the stolen emergency vehicle about a mile away 35 minutes later.
“This could have been catastrophic,” EMT Brendan Cameron of Plymouth Ambulance told WPVI. “These vehicles are so heavy; he could have totaled anything with one of these trucks.”
Investigators believe they can identify the man and make an arrest quickly.
