TILTON, N.H. — A Tilton man was in critical condition yesterday after he was hit by a car Saturday night while crossing the street, the police said.
Kenneth Wiggin, 33, was at a family party at his home, 263 Laconia Road, when an argument began in the driveway about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, the Tilton police said yesterday in a news release. Wiggin’s younger brother crossed Laconia Road to his parked pickup truck, and as Wiggin crossed the street toward him, he was struck by a car, the police said.
Wiggin was taken to Franklin Hospital and then was airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, the police said, where he was listed in critical condition last night.
The driver, Charles Wilbur of Laconia, was cut in the face by glass, treated at Lakes Region General Hospital and then released.
The police said alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident and no charges are pending.
Wilbur said he didn’t see Wiggin until he hit the windshield, the police said.
Two emergency medical technicians with Twin Rivers Ambulance Service were traveling a few vehicles behind Wilbur and began treating Wiggin’s injuries soon after the accident, the police said. The Tilton police responded to a 911 call about 8:40 p.m.
