FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — LifeCare Medical Transports is taking the message of breast cancer prevention on the road. The Fredericksburg-based ambulance service, which serves the entire state, unveiled a brand-new ambulance last week covered with pink ribbons and the slogan “Committed to the Cure.”

The decorated vehicle will appear at special events but also will run regular calls, said company President Kevin Dillard. “We’ve already got people fighting over who’s going to drive it,” he said.

Most of the company’s ambulances feature its signature teal-and-white decor. A committee of employees, including some cancer survivors, recommended this vehicle’s eye-catching design as a way to raise awareness and honor those affected by the disease.
