BERLIN, Conn. — A person suffered minor injuries Thursday when an ambulance they were riding in overturned in a crash on Chamberlain Highway, police said.

Deputy Berlin Police Chief Drew Gallupe said a vehicle struck the ambulance at the intersection with Reservoir Road, causing the ambulance to roll onto its driver’s side.

Gallupe said there was a patient in the back of the ambulance when it was struck but noted the vehicle was driving with traffic and did not have its lights and siren activated.

Gallupe said minor injuries were reported, but did not reveal how many people were hurt. He said Chamberlain Highway was temporarily closed during the investigation but has since been reopened.
