HARDIN COUNTY, Ohio — Several people were sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday morning when an ambulance overturned.

According to Sergeant Ryan Purpura of the Findlay Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at around 3:42 a.m., they investigated a crash on State Route 309, between Township Road 15 and Township Road 25 in Liberty Township, Hardin County.

The initial investigation revealed that an eastbound Chrysler Town and Country, operated by Monte Allen, 4, Lima, went left of the center line and struck a westbound ambulance. The ambulance operated by Robinaugh Emergency Medical Services went off the side of the road and overturned.

Occupants of both vehicles were extricated by first responders, with Allen sustaining non-life-threatening injuries and being transported by air ambulance to Mercy Health-St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo . The ambulance driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Additionally, the medic and the patient in the back of the ambulance both sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by ground ambulance to Lima Memorial Hospital . The accident remains under investigation at this time.
