Va. 911 misuse stretching EMS resources thin

Non-emergency calls left one patient with a broken ankle and back injury suffering for 30 minutes

CULPEPER, Va. — Due to abuse of the local 911 system, at least one seriously injured woman was forced to suffer.

That’s according to Culpeper County Emergency Services Lt. Bill Ooten, who said calls were so backed up one day due to non-emergency calls that the female patient lay on a sidewalk in town for half-an-hour before an ambulance arrived.
