STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A retired FDNY 9/11 EMT battling cancer received a surprise motorcycle.

PIX11 reported that Salvatore Turturici was diagnosed with Stage 4 liver cancer and has dreamed of riding a motorcycle ever since. His friends fulfilled his dream and delivered a bike to his home.

“It’s a great feeling,” Turturici told PIX11 News. “You don’t know who you have as friends until things happen to you.”

Turturici’s friend John Trentacosti teamed up with actor Brian Quinn to purchase the bike. They chose a three-wheeled motorcycle to help with Turturici’s balance issues.

“When you find out people are there for you it’s a good feeling and I hope to pay that back other ways,” Turturici said. “And that’s what I’m trying to do with whatever short time I have left on this earth.”
