LACEY, N.J. — A full-time police dispatcher and volunteer with the local EMS agency stole grant money awarded to the squad, prosecutors said.
Matthew Bender, 33, had access to the Lanoka Harbor Emergency Medical Services’ PayPal account.
He is accused of taking $4,690 and is charged with theft.
NJ.com reported the EMS agency was awarded a grant from Macy’s funding facilitator Benevity, and Bender allegedly used the money to pay for restaurant meals and purchases at pharmacies and auto stores.
Bender makes $43,980 annually from the police department.
