Ambulance runs red light, crashes into woman’s car

The woman, who had the right of way, was later charged with possession of marijuana and OWI

DUBOIS COUNTY, Ind. — A woman was hospitalized after an ambulance ran and red light and crashed into her car.

14News.com reported that Austin Hagan, 20, ran the red light in the ambulance, crashing into 23-year-old Riva Stenftenagel’s car. Police said Stenftenagel had the right of way.

A patient was on board the ambulance, and was taken to a hospital by another crew. An EMS provider in the back of the ambulance was also injured in the crash.

Police found marijuana in Stenftenagel’s car and a blood test at the hospital showed she was positive for marijuana.

Stenftenagel was later charged with possession of marijuana and OWI. Hagan was written a citation for disregarding a traffic signal.
