BREKENRIDGE, Colo. — A woman on her way to give birth at Summit Medical Center in Frisco Monday night got only as far as the Breckenridge 7-Eleven before baby decided it was time. When firefighters from Red, White and Blue Fire and Summit County Ambulance paramedics arrived shortly before 9 p.m., they found the woman in the front seat of the family’s vehicle, ready to deliver the baby.

“It was quickly evident that we did not have time to move her,” said firefighter/paramedic Hal Clark. The two crews worked together caring for the woman while setting up equipment to deliver the baby.

A few minutes later the woman delivered the baby in the front seat of the car, with the father and the rest of the family close by. The crews assessed the newborn while re-assessing the mother and prepared them for safe transport to St. Anthony’s Summit Medical Center.
