MESA, Ariz. — Thanks to the CPR techniques he learned on television, a 9-year-old boy was able to save his drowning sister’s life.
According to an ABC 15 report, 9-year-old Tristin Saghin started to perform CPR on his unconscious sister after their mother pulled her out of their grandmother’s pool.
Tristin told ABC 15, “I just went running outside and I did CPR on her. I knew what I was doing.” Two minutes later Tristin’s 2-year-old sister started to breath again, according to the report.
Mesa Fire Department spokesman Capt. Forrest Smith told ABC15, “Here he is, in a situation where most of us, if we had a family member in that position, as parents we tend to really panic and be concerned. I tell you, we really give kudos out to him.”
Mesa city officials are considering giving Tristin an award for his quick reaction and skill, according to the report.
