UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A mother is facing charges after police said she called 911 and reported her son’s overdose but hid the fact that there was another victim.

WBTV reported that Charlene Pigg called 911, and when EMS arrived they found her son, 19, unconscious on the back porch. Her son was transported to the hospital.

Several hours later, EMS responded to another call at the home and found a second overdose victim, 21, in a vehicle. The man was also rushed to the hospital.

Detectives determined that the two victims were together the night before when they took the controlled substances. Police said when Pigg called for help, she never mentioned the second person who had been left in the vehicle.

Investigators also said that while her son was being treated at the hospital, she removed evidence from the vehicle with the victim inside. Pigg was charged with breaking and entering and larceny from a motor vehicle, felony obstruction of justice and resist delay and obstruct.

Pigg’s husband, Sanford Pigg, also allegedly gave false information when questioned. He was charged with resist delay and obstruct as well.
