Medic sentenced to 18 months for stealing fentanyl

The former paramedic pleaded guilty to stealing the drugs for personal use

LEXINGTON, Ky. — A former paramedic was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for stealing fentanyl from Carter County EMS, where she worked.

Amanda Sturgill Jones, 35, pleaded guilty in May and admitted she stole the drugs for her personal use, WKYT reported.

To conceal her theft, she refilled the empty vials with saline and glued the caps back on, she said.

Jones was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court.
