LONDON — A father and his two sons were rescued after surviving 10 days in the Australian wilderness on rationed snacks and rain water.
Steve Van Lonkuyzen, 37, and his sons ages 5 and 7, went missing Dec. 11 in Expedition National Park, NBC reports.
In a massive search for the trio, a local cattle herder came upon their car “severely bogged” down about 186 miles from where they were last seen.
The family was in “good spirits” and will be medically examined.
“At some point [the food] was going to run out,” Lonkhuyzen said. “We were on water for the last seven days.”
