OWLS HEAD, Maine — The driver of a car that crashed Thursday night was flown to a Bangor hospital.

Jennifer Pallitto was driving west on Route 73 — on the Ingraham Drive section — when her car missed a corner and struck a tree head-on.

Emergency crews had to use extrication equipment to remove the injured driver. Pallitto was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport and then flown by a LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Rockland firefighters, emergency medical staff and the Owls Head Fire Department responded to the crash.

The crash occurred at about 8 p.m.

No other details were immediately available but were expected to be released later in the day.

At the same time, Thomaston firefighters responded through mutual aid to a report of a fire at the Knox County Courthouse in Rockland. The incident turned out to be a small fire in an exterior light at the courthouse.
