PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. — A firefighter-medic was seriously injured after being ejected from a car in a crash Monday.

LoHud reported that fire chief and paramedic Sam Lubin, 48, with the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps, was driving when his car went off the road and struck several trees. Chief Lubin was ejected from the car and suffered a serious head injury.

He was taken by ambulance to a hospital to be treated.

Lubin has been recognized for his work as a paramedic, including in 2005 when he and two police officers were honored for helping to revive a man who had gone into cardiac arrest, according to the report.
