GREEN BAY, Wis. — A firefighter-paramedic died in his sleep Saturday morning at a fire station.

Lt. Michael Miller, an 18-year veteran of the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, was on shift at Station 3 when crew members found him unresponsive and without a pulse early Saturday morning, according to a statement posted by the department on Facebook.

Miller was 45-years-old, and is survived by a wife and son. A message posted by Green Bay Fire Department reads, in part:

“Lt. Miller was always one to put others in front of himself, both as a Firefighter and a Paramedic and used his witty humor to put a smile on any face. Please keep Lieutenant Miller’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Rest In Peace Brother...We Will Take It From Here…”
