NEW ORLEANS — A crew member has been airlifted from a Carnival cruise ship to a New Orleans hospital after falling and hitting her head on deck.
The Coast Guard said in a news release that one of its helicopters picked up the 34-year-old Indonesian woman Saturday morning from the Carnival Conquest, located 172 miles southeast of New Orleans.
The news release said the woman was taken to the Interim LSU Public Hospital, and that she was in stable condition. The Coast Guard did not release her name.
In a statement Saturday, Carnival noted the ship was on the last leg of a seven-day Caribbean cruise that began in New Orleans. The statement said the ship was expected to arrive back in New Orleans again on Sunday, as scheduled.
