NEW YORK — FDNY leaders joined New York City Fire Museum officials at an event Thursday to promote the upcoming “Unmasking Our Heroes” exhibit.

FDNY Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro, Chief of EMS Operations Lillian Bonsignore and the FDNY Foundation gathered at the museum in Manhattan to express their support for the project, the museum shared on its Facebook page.

The “Unmasking Our Heroes” exhibit seeks to highlight the FDNY’s response during “an historic event in the history of our world, our country, our city and the FDNY,” according to the museum’s website.

The museum is collecting and seeking donations of items related to the pandemic response, including expressions of gratitude from the public.

“It’s the Museum’s way to capture this unprecedented time in the Fire Department’s history and allow the public to thank first responders in New York and contribute related artifacts,” museum officials said in a statement.
