BOSTON — A “Convoy of Champions” to celebrate National EMS Week was held in Massachusetts on Wednesday, hosted by the Massachusetts Ambulance Association, the Boston Red Sox, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh and numerous EMS agencies across the state.
The convoy of more than 50 ambulances traveled from UMass Medical Center in Worcester to Fenway Park in Boston in a parade along the Massachusetts Turnpike.
At the stadium, a ceremony was held with video tributes from dignitaries and celebrities as well as live speakers following social distancing guidelines. A UMass Memorial helicopter escorted the convoy from Worcester to Boston, and a Boston MedFlight copter conducted a flyover at the stadium.
Additional supporters of the event included Gov. Charlie Baker, the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Hospital Association, the Massachusetts State Police and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
