Emergency workers rally to help responders affected by Ky. flooding

A group of Lexington police, firefighters and paramedics will travel to Johnson County to help repair property and assist with emergency medical services

LEXINGTON, Ky. — A group of Lexington police, firefighters and paramedics will assist first-responders affected by recent flooding in Johnson County.

According to Lexington police, a group of first-responders will leave Thursday for Johnson County and stay through Sunday. The group will help clean up and repair property belonging to Johnson County police, firefighters and others with emergency medical services. Some of them haven’t had time to meet their personal needs as they worked to help others in the flood that killed four people.

The Lexington-area Flood Relief Mission is accepting donations except clothes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of the police roll call center at 1795 Old Frankfort Pike. Donations of gift cards to Lowes, Wal-Mart and gas stations are recommended. Also needed are toiletries, cleaning supplies, hygiene products and food. The group will leave for Paintsville at 6 p.m.
