PLYMOUTH, U.K. — A former paramedic from Plymouth has admitted stealing drugs from an ambulance service and falsifying records to cover his tracks.

Charles Kingdom, 36, admitted at Plymouth Crown Court to stealing drugs, including morphine, belonging to the South West Ambulance Trust while working for them between 2008 and 2010.

He also admitted falsifying documents to show that he gave patients higher doses of drugs than he actually had, or invented dosages when he had not administered any.

Kingdom, of Brandon Road, Laira, Plymouth, spoke only to plead to the charges and confirm his personal details. He admitted nine charges including theft of medication from SWAT and fraud but denied five further charges relating to allegations of theft from patients and one of fraud, pleas accepted by the prosecution.

Judge Francis Gilbert warned him that he could be jailed and released him on bail ahead of a sentencing hearing on May 6.

South West Ambulance Trust confirmed that Kingdom was no longer employed by them and would not comment further.
