VERNON, Conn. — Police were forced to deliver a baby Sunday night when a woman in labor couldn’t make it to the hospital in time to give birth.

Tony Navarro called 911 when his significant other, Amanda Lewnowski, went into labor.

“Hey, how’s it going? My girl’s having a baby, and she feels she can’t make it to the car, so I’m probably going to need an ambulance,” he said in the 911 call.

“We get these kinds of calls all the time, false contractions, so I didn’t really think too much of it,” said Officer Luke Gallant, who helped deliver the baby. “But when I got out of the car I could hear her screaming from the house, so I knew something was up.”
