BALDWIN TWP., Minn. — Authorities are trying to figure out who stole an ambulance from the Baldwin Township Fire Department early Sunday and left it lying in a ditch along a Sherburne County road.
Police discovered the ambulance around 5:25 a.m. on Mille Lacs County Road 4 near 45th Street after a passerby called in a complaint. About 30 minutes later, officials from the fire department called the Sherburne County Sheriff to report a stolen vehicle, said Capt. Joel Brott.
A witness saw the ambulance leaving the fire department at 30239 128th St. near Princeton, Minn., around 4 a.m. Sunday and head north on County Road 45. A short time later, a passerby called and reported seeing an ambulance in the ditch.
The ambulance sustained some damage, Brott said.
Brott said there was no sign of forced entry into the station, and nothing else was reported missing.
