Patient killed when ambulance hits dump truck

The 77-year-old died when the ambulance collided with a dump truck that was stopped in traffic during thick fog

MARSHALL, Mo. — A patient in an ambulance has been killed in a nearly head-on collision with a dump truck in thick fog in Saline County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victim as 77-year-old Gary L. Page of Slater. He died Saturday morning when the ambulance collided with a dump truck that was stopped in traffic on Highway 240 as the driver waited to turn onto Highway 41.

The ambulance’s driver suffered moderate injuries, and a 70-year-old passenger was seriously injured. Both were taken to University Hospital.
