SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — A Springfield man driving north on Amos Avenue in a pickup truck Saturday morning collided with an ambulance that was rushing a patient to the hospital.

Terry M. Kyes, 56, told police he had a green light when he drove through the intersection of Amos Avenue and Jefferson Street about 11 a.m. The ambulance driver, Robert A. Daniel, 66, of Virginia told police he ran the red light with lights and siren activated when the ambulance struck the side of the pickup.

The impact caused Kyes’ 2004 Ford Ranger to roll over onto its roof. Two additional ambulances were called to the scene and took the ambulance’s passenger, Michael Cox, 36, of Springfield, and Kyes to the hospital. Police said their injuries were not life-threatening.
