Ill. ambulance involved in head-on collision

SAVANNA, Ill. — Two ambulance crew members and two others were injured in a head-on crash Wednesday in Carroll County, according to Illinois State Police.

Donald F. Curley, 73, of Galena, was transported to Freeport Memorial Hospital for serious injuries; hospital officials declined to release information about his condition. Robert Robinson, 38, of Savanna, was taken to Mercy North Hospital in Clinton, Iowa, for serious injuries, according to the Illinois State Police. Police could not confirm if Robinson was a patient in the ambulance, and the hospital had no information.

The ambulance crew, Susan Picolotti, 37, of Savanna, and Louise Brouillard, 50, of Savanna, were treated and released.

At 3:30 p.m., a car driven by Curley traveling northbound on Illinois 84 near Savanna crossed into the southbound lane and crashed into an oncoming ambulance, according the Illinois State Police.
