PITTSBURGH, Pa. — An emergency medical technician from the Ross/West View Emergency Medical Services Authority is accused of stealing medicine from ambulances belonging to other medical services, police said.

Julian Richard Smith II, 25, was sent a summons issued by District Judge William Wagner ordering him to appear Sept. 4 for a preliminary hearing on charges of theft and possession of narcotics that were filed this week by McCandless police, state court records show.

Shaler police said Wednesday they plan to file charges against Smith for stealing morphine and other narcotics from the medical supplies carried by paramedics in their community.

The Ross/West View EMS website identifies Smith as an EMT. Officers from Ross/West View EMS could not be reached for comment.
