ALBANY, Ga. — Lee County officials are considering privatizing their EMS services and are now looking at how other private EMS agencies in neighboring counties work.
Currently, the county spends $2.5 million a year in EMS services, with $500,000 in revenue from patient billing.
The county manager said they want to save money without corrupting the quality of their services, WALB reported.
Neighboring Sumter County cut its response times by five minutes when its EMS services went private. Goldstar Ambulance took over the operations, investing in new and more trucks, new equipment and more training for employees.
