SYDNEY, Australia — Four people, including two boys, were rescued on Thursday, January 5 after they were found clinging to a portable cool box in the ocean off Sydney, Australia.
The two men, 43-year-old Scott Smiles and 46-year-old Rick Matthews, and their respective 11-year-old sons, Riley and Ryan, had set off before sunrise from Sydney’s Botany Bay in a 12-metre (40-foot) cruise boat, intending to travel 200 kilometres (125 miles) north on a fishing trip.
However, they only got 8 kilometres (5 miles) from Sydney when fire broke out on the boat, forcing the four to jump into the ocean.
