BOULDER, Colo. — A vacationing EMT saved a climber who fell 50 feet down a mountain.
WSOCtv.com reported that the climber was in a remote area with no cellphone service. EMT Bailey Parton and her friend were hiking when they got lost while looking for the Red Rocks Amphitheater. She heard a call for help and crossed a river to look for the climber.
“I was just really preparing in my head what I need to look for, what I need to ask him,” Parton said. “There is a lot of reviewing the steps of the process. It is very methodical. There are a lot of steps to the process that you need to not miss in a situation like this.”
The climber injured his shoulder in the fall, but Parton said the injuries could have been a lot worse.
“It happened for a reason,” she said. “We got lost for a reason. I’m glad we were here.”
