MORROW, Ohio — An Ohio fire chief was featured in the FOX reality hidden-camera show “Mobbed” Wednesday in honor of his daughter who was killed in a car accident.
Harlan Township Fire Chief Andy Mitten’s daughter, Dee Dee, was killed in a car accident in 1991 and helped saved the lives of others as an organ and tissue donor, according to FOX 19.
The show, hosted by Howie Mandel, involves hidden cameras catching a surprise flash mob for an unsuspecting guest on the show.
As part of the flash mob, Chief Mitten got to meet Lea, a woman who was saved by a transplant from Dee Dee 21 years ago.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling to have someone come up and say thank you for the gift of life,” he said. “It gives us a lot of satisfaction to know that we made the right choice with Dee Dee. She’s up there watching down on us right now and enjoying every minute of it.”
Chief Mitten’s daughter, Missy, who now works in organ donation, helped coordinate the show to honor her father and the memory of her sister.
