HONOLULU — Honolulu EMS recognized a 10-year-old boy Wednesday at a ceremony in honor of National EMS Week and on EMS for Children’s Day, HawaiiNewsNow reported.
Cody Agnell noticed his mom was having a seizure earlier in the day. He called 911 and described the symptoms to the dispatcher.
It was the second time Cody had seen his mother go into a seizure. During the first incident in March, Cody ran to a neighbor who called 911. But on Wednesday, he knew what to do.

Honolulu EMS dubbed him a “junior paramedic.”
His mother was recovering in the hospital as Cody received his award.
“I think you’re an inspiration to young people, that if they ever had to, to do what you did,” Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi said. “So thank you.”
“He knew what to do because his parents had taught him,” said Honolulu EMS Director Jim Ireland. “And it also shows the professionalism of our dispatchers.”
Cody had a suggestion for the community, as well.
“Parents, teach your kids how to call 911,” he said at the ceremony.
