GREECE, N.Y. — A fundraiser was held Saturday to help raise money for a paramedic recently diagnosed with terminal cancer.
WHEC.com reported friends and family came up with the fundraiser as a way to give back to Jason Bortle, who is the chief paramedic and director of operations at Greece (N.Y.) Volunteer Ambulance service.
The fundraiser included a head shaving auction, which both of Jason’s parents participated in, that raised $1,100.
“Our goal is to slow the disease and slow the progression while we wait for medicine or an act of God to cure him and so we can have quality of life,” Stacie Renna, Jason’s fiancé, said.
A YouCaring page has been set up to help Jason and his family with medical costs.
