Boston unveils commemorative marathon bombing banners

The banners honored victims and survivors on the two year anniversary of the 2013 bombing at the finish line of the Boston Marathon

BOSTON — Commemorative banners were unveiled on Boylston Street early Wednesday morning to honor victims and survivors of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

Family members of 8-year-old Martin Richard, who was killed in the bombing, helped Boston Mayor Marty Walsh unveil a set of banners on the second anniversary of the attack in front of where the Forum Restaurant used to be, where the second bomb detonated.

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker was also on hand in front of Marathon Sports, unveiling a set of banners where the first bomb detonated. Chief James Hooley, head of Boston EMS, said the ceremony was moving.
