NJ medic dies responding to call

Richard ‘Dick’ Hanlon was responding to a motor vehicle crash when he became unresponsive

MORRIS CONTY, N.J. — A medic responding to a motor vehicle crash became unresponsive and died Tuesday.

Richard ‘Dick’ Hanlon, 83, was a member of the Madison, N.J., Volunteer Ambulance Corps for the past 15 years. He also served previously as president, according to the Independent Press.

After becoming unresponsive at the wheel of his vehicle, responders from the Madison police and fire departments quickly came to his aid. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A funeral will be held Saturday. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to the Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
