KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. — Two paramedics were injured in after a hit-and-run accident Tuesday night.
“One of our ambulances was struck by another vehicle and the vehicle fled the scene and it put the vehicle out of service,” Mike Jarrett, chaplain of Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority, told Metro News. “It’s just really unsettling when you have to respond to one of your own.”
Fellow medics transported Thomas Robinson and Karrie Cunningham, who were in the ambulance at the time of the crash, to the hospital with minor injuries. Both are expected to be able to work their next shift.
The ambulance was not carrying a patient at the time of the collision.
Police suspect that the driver of the car that hit the ambulance was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
