2 killed in Tenn. ambulance, truck collision

The truck was driving northbound in a southbound lane and hit the ambulance head-on

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — Two people died after a head-on collision between a pickup truck and ambulance Tuesday morning.

The driver and passenger of the pickup were both killed in the accident, according to WTVR.

Five people were in the ambulance, including two paramedics, a nurse, and a special needs patient and mother.

The pickup truck was driving northbound in a southbound lane and hit the ambulance head-on.

The ambulance did not have its lights or sirens on at the time because the patient was being transported for a routine doctor’s appointment.

Both victims were women in their 20s. The five on board the ambulance sustained non-life threatening injuries.
