MANCHESTER, N.J. — Three volunteer EMS crew members were injured Saturday when their ambulance was hit by a box truck.
The ambulance was had its lights and sirens activated and was on the way to an emergency call. It was exiting the Whiting Volunteer First aid building on Route 530 around 11 a.m. when it was struck by a truck driven by David Pineul, 20 Asbury Park Press reports.
Neither he nor his passenger was hurt. EMT Albert Stover, 80, was driving the ambulance and was taken to Community Medical Center for complaints of pain, along with EMT John Valdora, 73. EMT Bryan Platt, 56, complained of right arm pain but refused medical attention.
