TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A man was arrested after calling 911 while in an emergency room lobby to ask for an ambulance ride to another hospital, according to police.
Tallahassee Democrat reported that Vanderick Williams was allegedly being disruptive in the ER when an officer told him to calm down. The officer said Williams agreed to stop, despite being argumentative.
A nurse told the officer minutes later that someone from the ER had called 911 and requested a ride to another hospital.
Another officer arrived on the scene and Williams told him he called 911 because he “needed an ambulance,” according to officials. While being taken into custody, Williams said he only called 911 once because he “needed a ride.”
Williams was charged with misusing 911.
