AMANDA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Three people suffered serious injuries Friday afternoon after a Spencerville teen failed to stop and yield at a stop sign, causing an ambulance to strike his vehicle and eject him from his truck, according to the Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
At approximately 2:52 p.m. Friday, troopers were dispatched to the intersection of State Route 117 and Grubb Road. Evan Fast, 17, of Spencerville, drove a 1993 Ford F-150 northbound on Grubb Road. He failed to stop and yield at the stop sign at the intersection, pulling into the path of a 2024 Ford E-350 ambulance operated by Lima -Allen County Paramedics that was westbound on 117.

Both vehicles went off the north side of the roadway, with the ambulance driving through a utility pole and multiple small trees.
Fast wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time, ejecting him from the vehicle and causing serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A private vehicle transported him to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center.
An EMS crew member working in the back of the ambulance, William Huston, 22, of Pandora, suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries. LACP transported him to the hospital. The patient in the ambulance, 92-year-old Patricia Kohli, of Spencerville, also suffered serious injuries, and Spencerville EMS transported her to St. Rita’s.
The EMS member driving the ambulance, 26-year-old Austin Sizemore, of Lima , and a coworker in the back of the ambulance, Kaden Tobin , 21, of Lima , each suffered minor injuries. LACP transported Sizemore, and Spencerville EMS transported Tobin to St. Rita’s.
The highway patrol reminded drivers to make complete stops and make sure intersections were clear. Drivers should also always wear a properly adjusted seat belt.
Also assisting at the scene were the Ohio Department of Transportation, Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Spencerville Invincible Fire Company, Shawnee Township EMS, United States Infrastructure Corporation, Able Wrecker Service, Gomer Auto, Midwest Electric and Spectrum.
