SCOTTSDALE, Arizona — A suspect is at large after allegedly backing up into a police officer’s motorcycle during a traffic stop, fleeing the scene, and later stealing an ambulance.

Matthew Thomas Cook, 34, was pulled over for a traffic stop on Monday by a Scottsdale police officer. After initially coming to a full stop, Cook then reversed his vehicle and backed into the officer’s motorcycle, Fox News reported.

Cook and a female passenger fled the scene, and the officer relayed the direction of the suspect to dispatch. Additional officers located the suspect’s vehicle and pursued him to an apartment complex, where Cook and the female passenger abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police were alerted the suspects had stolen an ambulance responding to an unrelated medical call, which was later found abandoned.

The female suspect was captured after witnesses reported seeing the pair in a neighborhood.

Cook remains at large and is wanted for aggravated assault on an officer and theft of an emergency vehicle.

Officials ask anyone with information to call the Scottsdale Police Department.
