The man was severely injured by his boat’s boom

PORT ANGELES, Wash. — The Coast Guard medevaced an injured Wash. man from a sailboat Wednesday.

Coast Guard Puget Sound, located in Seattle, received the mayday call late Tuesday night, according to Ptleader.com.

The caller, 53, said he had been severely hurt by his vessel’s boom, suffering injuries to his back, ribs and both arms.

Crews launched a helicopter and lowered a rescue swimmer into the water to reach the man. Rescuers were eventually able to hoist the man to the helicopter.

The man has been transported to the hospital, but his condition is unclear.
