EL PASO, Texas — A mountain rescue team helped two hikers off a mountain trail at Tom Mays Park on Thursday afternoon.

El Paso Fire Department spokesman George De La Torre said the two women had trouble after hiking for hours during the 90-degree day at the park off Trans Mountain Road. One woman is 71, and the other woman is in her 50s.

The women had been hiking since 8:30 a.m., and one of them called her husband because they were feeling fatigue and dizziness. Soon before 3 p.m., the man called 911 for help. A search team found the women and helped them hike off a mountain.

The 71-year-old woman was taken to a hospital for observation.
