N.M. FD trains record numbers of EMTs, paramedics

Albuquerque Fire Rescue has graduated 40 paramedics since 2023, with 25 more expected this year, alongside a record 40 EMT basics and 26 advanced EMT cadets

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque Fire Rescue is highlighting record numbers of EMTs and paramedics trained through its programs.

Since 2023, AFR has graduated 40 paramedics, with another 25 expected to graduate this year. In addition to paramedic training, AFR started an advanced EMT training program for cadets, and has graduated 26 members so far, KRQE reported.

“We are training a record number of EMT’s and paramedics, which is helping us with our mission to keep communities safe,” said AFR Chief Emily Jaramillo. “None of this is possible without a committed training staff and the collaboration of multiple EMS educational partners.”

This year also brought a record 40 members trained as EMT basics.
