EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Rutgers Emergency Services provided specialized support for the FIFA World Cup final, assisting the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety and the Meadowlands Fire Department with landing zone operations.

The mission was modified to provide heavy rescue and technical decontamination coverage for the helicopter arrival of President Donald Trump. Personnel assigned to Rescue 1 and the department’s decontamination unit worked alongside the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard, NJ FMBA Local 177 firefighters and the Meadowlands Fire Department to support the operation.
