PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A man with mental health issues stole an ambulance from a hospital Tuesday.

NBC10 reported that the man drove the ambulance off the hospital campus with its lights and sirens on. Police said the EMS agency used the ambulance’s GPS to track the vehicle.

The ambulance was found less than a mile away with its emergency lights on. No one was in the ambulance when it was found, but a police officer said a man came up to him acting erratically, saying there were bombs at the hospital.

The police report said the man told the officer he tried to drive the ambulance to another hospital for treatment.

The man was transported for mental evaluation.
