TICONDEROGA, N.Y. — A flight paramedic who dedicated his career to saving others died after suffering a sudden medical emergency while on duty.

LifeNet of New York announced that Flight Paramedic Kevin Robert died on Aug. 27 while aboard LifeNet 7-13, based out of Ticonderoga, New York. Robert was caring for a patient alongside a flight nurse and pilot when he experienced a medical emergency.

The crew landed at a nearby hospital while LifeNet’s communications center coordinated additional resources. Despite efforts from the crew, communications staff, first responders and hospital personnel, Robert could not be revived, the agency said in a statement.

“Our priority now is the well-being of our teammates and the continued support of Kevin’s family,” LifeNet said. “We will forever cherish the memories Kevin leaves with us, and we will carry his memory and legacy with us on every mission.”

Remembered for service and mentorship

Robert’s final moments were spent doing what he loved most — providing care to a patient, Saratoga County EMS said in a statement WNYT.

Robert served in multiple EMS roles during his career, including with Malta-Stillwater Ambulance, and he was also an educator, teaching in the paramedic program at Hudson Valley Community College, WNYT reports.

He is remembered not only for the countless lives he saved but also for the colleagues he mentored and the organizations he helped strengthen.

LifeNet’s Ticonderoga base remains on safety stand-down to give his teammates time to grieve.
